About Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele
Biography
Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, FNSE, is the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Nigeria, a role she has diligently served in since 2019. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos in 1987, followed by a Master’s degree in Public Health Engineering from the prestigious Imperial College of Science & Technology, London in 1989.
With an extensive professional background in engineering consultancy, construction, and real estate development, Engr. Salako-Oyedele brought a wealth of technical and managerial expertise into public service. Her transition into politics marked a new chapter of impact, particularly in public health, infrastructure, and grassroots development.
She has taken on several high-level responsibilities beyond her constitutional duties. As head of the Ogun State Covid-19 Task Force, she oversaw statewide coordination of health strategies during the pandemic. She also chaired the Ogun State Primary Health Care Task Force, enhancing the quality and accessibility of primary healthcare services. In 2021, she played a central role in political mobilization efforts, leading the Local Government Election Campaign Committee.
Her Excellency is a firm believer in inclusive governance and the power of women in leadership. She has been a driving force behind initiatives to empower women socially, economically, and politically. Notably, she chairs the Ogun State Steering Committee for the World Bank–funded Nigeria for Women Project, which supports financial inclusion and entrepreneurship for women across local communities.
At the national level, her commitment was recognized when she was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 as a member of the High-Level Advisory Committee on Women’s Economic Empowerment and Gender. In that capacity, she continues to advocate for institutional frameworks that enhance gender equity in policy and practice.
Her impact has earned her numerous accolades, including being named ‘Woman of the Year 2021’ by the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Ogun State Chapter. That same year, she represented Nigeria on the continental stage as the keynote speaker at the African Women in Engineering Forum in Pretoria, South Africa. These milestones reflect her dedication to mentorship, gender advocacy, and sustainable development.
A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Salako-Oyedele is committed to nurturing the next generation of female engineers and public leaders. Her voice remains a resonant one in national dialogues around gender parity, health equity, and infrastructural growth.
